How do i get to the starting point of the eastern walk in Bormio at the Parish of Saints Gervasio and Protasio
You reach the centre of Bormio by bus (from Tirano or Sondrio) or by car, park nearby and walk a few hundred metres along Via Roma to Piazza Cavour, where the Parish Church of Saints Gervasio and Protasio is located.
Is it possible to reach the starting point of the individual stages by public transport?
Yes, the Milan-Tirano TRENORD railway allows you to reach the starting point of the stage (also local trains in smaller villages on the Milan-Tirano line of Trenord). There are also public bus services. LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE SECTION DEDICATED TO MEANS OF TRANSPORT.
Is the path passable al year round?
It is recommended to walk the trail from June to October; the usability of the trail during the remaining months is not guaranteed. We recommend consulting the weather forecasts before planning your walk.
Is specific training needed?
As with all walks, especially mountain walks, those who are not regular walkers should train gradually with walks and hikes. Hiking poles are useful. Depending on your preparation and fitness, you can plan shorter stages by seeking hospitality in intermediate villages.

No, the route is entirely on paths, mule tracks and roads that are easily navigable without any special equipment. Hiking poles are useful.
Is the path well signposted an how?
The signs are on a blue background with the special logo of the Marian Way of the Alps. There are also notice boards along the route with news and in-depth information. From the church Santi Gervasio e Protasio in Bormio towards the Sanctuary of Tirano (the destination of the walk).

How to obtain the credential?
To obtain the Credential, all you have to do is select in the menu ‘Credential and Testimonium’ the route (Western route or Eastern route). Then all you have to do is fill in the required fields and, after selecting ‘send’, you will obtain a pdf file containing the Credential, the so-called ‘pilgrim's passport’. The Credential will immediately be available for download on your device (smartphone, PC) and will also be sent by e-mail to the mailbox you indicated in the form.
Is it possible to walk the route in individual stages?
Yes, it is possible to walk the individual stages at different times. By placing the obligatory stamps on the credential at each stage, you will be able to receive the testimonium upon completion of the route.
is there a luggage transport service?
Yes, there is currently an organised and dedicated service. Information is available on the dedicated page under "Organise your pilgrimage" - "Travel packages".
Who issues the "thestimonium" at the end of the walk?
The testimonium is issued by the Rectory of the Sanctuary of Tirano upon presentation of the Pilgrim's Credential complete with the obligatory stamps.

How do I get to the starting point of the Via Orientale (Chiesa Parrocchiale dei Santi Gervasio e Protasio) in Bormio?
From the Perego bus station in Bormio, walk approximately 750 meters to reach the historic town center, Piazza Cavour, where the Chiesa Parrocchiale dei Santi Gervasio e Protasio is located — the first stop along the route.
